Ferncat discovered the great outdoors; Ferndawg got elephantitis; we visited Big Wilson Stream; I cooked some delicious shit; we drank a tasty new cocktail; I watered the lawn; the fabric store is a bust.
Fernkitty loves it here. After spending a day playing with bobbins and exploring the cabin, I carried her outside. She was cool. Then I had her follow me outside. Now she has been coming and going, mostly eating bugs and plants and exlporing under the cabin. Last night we put her on the porch to get this giant moth. She took it down. When we brought her inside to come to town she tried to open the door this morning.
Ferndawg has been having some rough times. Twice she has slipped on the big rock and fallen under the dock. Her paws are raw and her bad back leg is hurting her bad. Yesterday we went for a picnic instead of a hike because she was so stiff. She loved the falls, she didn't get swept down them. But she did get bite by a horsefly and got elephantitis. The little blackflies we pretty nasty to her also. The swelling has finally gone down. Luckily, she didn't seem to affected by the fact that her face swelled up twice the size and she looked GROSS.
Big Wilson Falls were gorgeous. I collected slate tile pieces and skipping stones. Ferndawg found a shoulderblade bone for Brandon.
Yesterday afternoons cocktail was delicious:
4oz fresh squeezed grapefruit
3oz st. germaine

6. More bean sauce
7. More pasta
8. Sliced tomato
9. Sliced artichoke
10. More sauce
11. More pasta

Then I baked that and served a sauce of butter, shallots, lemon zest, and fresh basil.
